After 33 years together and a 30 year engagement, Leckenby’s owners, Jean Leckenby and Tony Cunningham have finally tied the knot!
A ceremony at Bury Town Hall on July 27th (Jean’s Birthday) followed by a lovely Wedding Breakfast at The Pavilion at Birtle, saw Jean and Tony become Mr and Mrs, around 28 years after they had originally planned to do so.
Tony explained “We had everything set to be married back in 1995, with the reception booked at the much-missed Old Rosins hotel in the hills above Darwen.
“Unfortunately, days before, Jean was rushed into hospital seriously ill, and although she fortunately recovered, the wedding had to be postponed.
“Little did we realise that the delay would have been this long, but life continued with all it’s challenges, and matrimony seemed to take a back seat.
“Now, however, we have finally done it, and I could not be happier.
“Most people know Jean and the sort of outgoing person that she is, and I’m proud to now be called her husband”
A party with 100 guests followed at Greenmount Golf Club, with excellent food provided by Yannis, and entertainment provided by comedian and radio presenter Sean Styles.
A great way to end a wonderful few days.
